Venza
Marks a New Class of Vehicle for Toyota
Its Here!
In January 2008
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A.,
Inc., unveiled the all-new 2009 Venza crossover sedan at the 2008 North
American International Auto Show (NAIAS). Venza will raise the crossover
vehicle to new levels by combining a unique blend of sedan refinement and sport
utility vehicle (SUV) functionality.
"The all-new Venza was developed as a vehicle that combines the styling,
comfort and fun-to-drive performance elements of a five-passenger sedan with
the surprising utility of an SUV," said Bob Carter, Toyota Division group
vice president and general manager. "This winning combination will be
ideal for active ‘boomers' and young couples with small families." Now
in stock!
The All-New 2009 Toyota Land
Cruiser
The all-new 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser sport
utility vehicle (SUV) is now available for purchase. This exclusive vehicle continues
to carry its incomparable reputation for quality, durability and reliability. With
its many new features the Land Cruiser reasserts its position at the very top
of the Toyota SUV lineup and arguably the best of all brands in the world.
Powertrain
The new Land Cruiser is powered by an all-new 5.7L (346 cid) DOHC V8 engine
that produces 381 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 401 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 rpm
while only using regular 87-octane gasoline. This advanced power plant is
connected to a six-speed electronically controlled transmission that uses
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Shift Control, which allows the transmission's
Electronic Control module to estimate road condition and predict the driver's
intention to select the appropriate gear ratio for the vehicle's speed and the
driving conditions. The Land Cruiser's EPA fuel economy estimates are 13/18 mpg city/highway.
Chassis and Suspension
To develop the next generation of the toughest, most desirable four-wheel-drive
vehicle in the world, the Land Cruiser's engineers elected to maintain a
separate frame and body for the Land Cruiser 200 Series. Engineers improved insulation
and body-on-frame mounting bushings to reduce road noise, suppress vibration,
and enhance on-road and off-road comfort. Chassis and suspension components
received as much thought and attention as the Land Cruiser's frame. It receives
a new double-wishbone independent front suspension and four-link rear
suspension with a solid live axle. Enhancing this advanced suspension system is
KDSS, a Toyota
first, which provides a unique mixture of optimal on-road roll stiffness and
off-road suspension compliance. This consists of a pair of hydraulic control
cylinders that vary roll stiffness depending on suspension attitude.
Safety Systems
The Land Cruiser comes complete with a wide variety of systems designed to help
maintain the safety and security of the vehicle's driver and passengers. Like
all Toyota SUVS, the Land Cruiser comes standard with the STAR safety system. A
new, four-wheel multi-terrain anti-lock braking system (ABS) automatically
selects the optimal ABS profile, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), ABS,
Brake Assist (BA), Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) and Vehicle Stability
Control (VSC). The new Land Cruiser also features 10 airbags, the most airbags
found in any Toyota
vehicle. The interior is optimized for
the comfort, security and safety of its driver and up to seven passengers – two
in the front, and three each in the second and third rows of seating.
Passengers will enjoy four-zone independent control of the heating and air conditioning system with 28 air vents located
throughout the cabin. First and second-row passengers have access to individual
climate control, so that all passengers will be comfortable, even when only one
side of the vehicle is exposed to the sun. Finally, the system also includes a
micro-dust and pollen filter and a seven-level blower control.
Convenience and Attention to Detail
The Land Cruiser features a number of thoughtful standard details. These
include a JBL premium audio system with an in-dash six-CD/DVD changer and 14
speakers; Smart Key keyless entry; anti-theft security system; push-button
start which allows the driver to unlock or start the vehicle by carrying the
key on his person; engine immobilizer; cruise control; power moonroof;
electrochomic rearview and side mirrors; HomeLink®; steering wheel-mounted
audio, telephone, and voice recognition controls; heated, power front seats
with driver's memory; and power tilt and telescopic steering column with
memory.
In addition, the Land Cruiser offers a variety of options as part of upgrade
packages: a DVD rear-seat entertainment system with a nine-inch LCD screen;
Bluetooth™ technology; back-up camera; second-row heated seats; a touch-screen
DVD-based navigation system with an eight-inch display that includes
navigation, audio, HVAC, back-up monitor, headlamp washers, and Bluetooth™
controls. For towing convenience, the Land Cruiser has a towing converter that
supplies electrical power to trailer lights and a sub wiring harness to connect
to a commercial trailer brake controller.

Cruiser.

Limited and the top-of-the-line all-new Platinum.
A 5.7-liter V8 engine is now available with an improvement of 105 horsepower
and increased fuel economy by nearly 12 percent on the highway compared to the
standard 4.7-liter V8. The 5.7-liter engine is certified as an Ultra Low
Emission Vehicle II (ULEV-II) and provides an available towing capacity of 10,000

lineup, Sequoia comes standard with the Star Safety System, which includes
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC on 2WD models) or
Active-Traction Control (A-TRAC on 4WD models), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)
with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). Sequoia's
collision safety performance is enhanced by driver and front passenger
seat-mounted side and three-row roll-sensing side curtain airbags.
An all-new platform now provides interior dimensions that are longer, wider and
taller than the previous Sequoia. Additionally, the second-row seat is equipped

Better Fuel
Economy on the Horizon for Toyota
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc.,
announced it will provide several Toyota Prius plug-in electric hybrid (PHEV)
prototypes at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit
for executive shuttle service to and from the Cobo Center.
The prototype Prius plug-in hybrids are
similar to the vehicles that were recently given to two University of California
campuses. These vehicles are being used for research and testing as part of
Toyota's on-going sustainable mobility development program with the University
of California at Irvine's Advanced Power and Energy Program and the University
of California at Berkeley's Institute of Transportation Studies.
The PHEVs in Detroit, as with the vehicles at the
universities, are early-development prototypes that will be used for evaluation
of real-world customer use and acceptance, ride-and-drives by regulatory
officials and NGOs, and technical research and development.
The prototype plug-in hybrid system is
designed to operate in a similar manner to the current Prius, switching from pure-electric
mode, to gas-engine mode to a blended gas-electric mode. With the addition of a
second nickel-metal hydride battery pack, the plug-in Prius can store greater
levels of electricity and is charged by plugging into a standard household
electrical outlet. With more electric power in reserve, the vehicle is capable
of operating in pure-electric mode for longer periods of time and at much
higher speeds than the current Prius. The added electrical power also produces
substantial gains in fuel economy and a reduction in total tailpipe emissions
versus current conventional hybrid systems.
